NEW Program for NTLC Helps Kids, Environment in Big Bear Valley |
|
New Technology Learning Concepts (NTLC) owners Dave and Donna Beveridge are working on starting a new ecological program to benefit the children, families, visitors and residents of the Big Bear Valley (including the wildlife and the Moonridge Zoo residents). Big Bear Valley Ecobears is applying for a Pepsi Refresh grant to provide funds to get kids and their families, businesses, government and the community involved in activities that will help to clean up, take care of and help out the local environment, wildlife and eco-system. By involving kids in choosing what projects they would like to do, from community gardens, to recycling drives, planting trees and native flora, trash clean-ups and trail refurbishment, Ecobears’ goal is to make a difference in the community and kids lives. Preschoolers can participate in the Cubs program, elementary kids in the Brown Bears and junior and high school in the Grizzlies. Dave and Donna have lived in the Big Bear Valley area for six years. Donna has been in the childhood education for over 40 years and was formerly an adjunct professor for San Bernardino Valley Community College. Dave is an internationally known trainer and has provided technology training for national and international companies and worked for over 20 years in the aerospace industry. Working with kids may not take a rocket scientist, but it helps to have one on call. The Beveridges have two sons, two granddaughters and a grandson. |
